One concrete action you can take today: Pressure Congress to pressure HUD.
Federal homelessness $$ can STILL be paused. Without ESSENTIAL HUD funding, thousands of people experiencing homelessness won't be able to access services.

The lawsuit, filed by @SafetyNetUJC, says the city's new criteria around who qualifies for safe haven and stabilization shelters makes it harder for street homeless people to access those beds, and discriminates against recently arrived immigrants. bit.ly/3ElL10a
Each week, we round up the latest housing and land use-related events, public hearings and affordable housing lotteries ending soon. See what's happening: bit.ly/4arQtuh
"The event serves both to remember and mourn those who died, and as a stark reminder of how homelessness is also a health crisis." Thank you @UrbanPathwaysNY & @CFHNYC for organizing & @JeanmarieEvelly@CityLimitsNews for covering this critically important and powerful event.
“Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day” has taken place every December for more than 20 years. The event serves both to remember and mourn those who died, and as a stark reminder of how homelessness is also a health crisis, its organizers say. bit.ly/4iXGdho
Each December, @CFHNYC & @UrbanPathwaysNY organize a memorial for the homeless New Yorkers who've died that year. At the 2024 ceremony, they read 376 names, “who, most of them, died prematurely.”

As our Chief Administrative Officer Gary Jenkins says, "Homelessness is a complex issue, but solving homelessness is simple—and that is through providing true affordable housing and supportive services.”

Today, we remember the lives of the many homeless ppl who died this year.
Homelessness is not a choice, it is a circumstance we must never forget the humanity of the 100K NYers living on our streets. #HPMD@UrbanPathwaysNY@CFHNYC@BrGround@GoddardRiv@VOCALNewYork
Join us and @UrbanPathwaysNY on Wednesday, December 18th as we remember our fellow New Yorkers who passed away while unstably housed or homelessness in 2024.

"People think their votes don't count, but they truly do. Everything they do counts," says @Homelessshelter resident Wendy Mayfield.
"It's very important that [people experiencing homelessness] learn they can vote, and their voice counts." ksl.com/article/51147141/the…
A: Yes! People experiencing homelessness have the right to vote & play an important role in our democracy.
To register, a voter needs a physical address to be assigned a precinct (this can be a shelter/outdoor location) and a mailing address.

"Expanding access to CityFHEPS is a necessary step in ensuring stability for our most vulnerable residents and helping prevent further homelessness." - Frederick Shack, CEO
Urban Pathways stands with @LegalAidNYC & @NYCCouncil because #HomesCantWait!
🗣️ 137,000 New Yorkers are living in shelters and @NYCMayor is refusing to help them!
He refuses to implement CityFHEPS laws that would protect house thousands.
We support @LegalAidNYC@NYCCouncil’s appeal of the lower courts’ ruling.
We WILL fight for our neighbors.
Despite a record-high increase of shelter beds in 2023, the number of people experiencing homelessness is outpacing the number of beds available.
Take a look at the impact of this shortage on homelessness nationwide:
