I’m in favor of the verumontanum is NOT the anatomical reference point in a laser enucleation of the prostate (#HOLEP). The reference point is the urinary sphincter. As you can see in this video, the verumontanum can be very proximal, and if it were our reference point, we would leave a lot of residual prostatic tissue. The reference point should be the urinary sphincter so that we can achieve complete deobstruction with better long-term results, without compromising urinary incontinence. Do you agree?
