To be clear, this is not us stopping support for these unsupported distros.
We just need a better target for a 'stable' experience and targeting a constantly moving operating system without any form of stable handrails makes things very difficult for us.
Therefore, do not expect day one support with these distros.
It's also come to our concern that a lot of Linux users don't tend to have stable machines whatsoever. Therefore things need to be tightened heavily to ensure a stable experience on devices that can't meet a standard of care.
Normally, we wouldn't need to do this but due to the nature of Cider 4.x and how we utilize modern rendering techniques the crack start to show far more than usual on aging hardware.
We'll be posting some more information about this in the coming weeks as we gather more information on what makes these issues show up far more on more unorthodox distros and system configurations.
For now, here's a list of trusted experience distros:
Ubuntu (&der.)
Fedora (&der.)
Debian 13
Pop!_OS
steamOS/Bazzite
Rolling Release distros are not recommended with Cider due to how often things like graphical acceleration and other rendering pipelines change.
