For nearly 250 years, the Stars and Stripes have represented sacrifice, unity, freedom and the belief that America’s best days are still ahead. Happy Flag Day. May we always honor the generations who built this country and continue striving to leave it stronger for the next. 🇺🇸

Utah’s judicial selection process has long been guided by one principle: choosing the most qualified individuals to serve. Legal excellence, integrity and sound judgment matter far more than any single career path. We are fortunate to have a process that focuses on merit and helps ensure Utah’s courts remain among the most respected in the nation. Read Sen. Brammer's op-ed for more information on what is required by the Constitution to be on the Utah Supreme Court. deseret.com/opinion/2026/06/…

Today we remember D-Day, June 6, 1944, when Allied forces launched the invasion of Normandy during World War II. Thousands of brave service members sacrificed everything to defend freedom and liberate Europe from tyranny. Their courage changed the course of history and reminds us that liberty must always be protected and preserved. We honor the Americans and Allied forces who served on D-Day and all members of the Greatest Generation whose sacrifice continues to inspire our nation.

We celebrated America’s unrelenting drive for exploration, ingenuity and creativity while honoring our rich history. That spirit begins right here in our own backyard at Northrop Grumman, where the most powerful rocket boosters for human flight ever constructed are helping keep America at the forefront of innovation and space exploration. These boosters will travel from Corinne, Utah to Florida aboard Union Pacific’s new America 250 commemorative locomotive, No. 4547, celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary.

President Adams sent a letter to Kevin O’Leary calling for a 75% reduction in the proposed data center project area. Utah has never been forced to choose between economic opportunity and responsible stewardship, and we will not start now. As this project is considered, it is important that it reflects the values that have helped make Utah one of the best places in the nation to live, work and raise a family.

Operation Gigawatt was yet another prime example that the free world is looking to our nation and our great state not only to demonstrate what is possible, but to lead the way toward a brighter, more efficient energy future. We can build faster, strengthen our economy, secure our energy future and responsibly steward our natural resources at the same time. That's why protecting the Great Salt Lake remains a top priority as we continue developing reliable, affordable energy sources to power our nation and our future. A major step forward came with the signing of a new agreement between Utah and the Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council to better coordinate state and federal permitting efforts for critical infrastructure and energy projects. This partnership will create a more predictable and efficient permitting process, reduce unnecessary delays while maintain responsible oversight and safeguarding the resources we value most. The future of national security will be determined by the ability to produce abundant energy, secure critical resources and develop the technologies that power the modern world. Utah is ready to help America lead.

The work doesn't stop when the legislative session ends. Senators returned to the Capitol last week for interim meetings to discuss important policy issues facing our state. Committees adopted interim study items, heard valuable public input from Utahns and confirmed four new judges. Your voice helps shape the conversation. Stay engaged as we prepare for the next legislative session and continue working to build an even stronger Utah together. Learn more at le.utah.gov

We express our deepest gratitude to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation. One of the greatest gifts a woman can leave behind is not material. It is the quiet influence she has on the people around her. Through love, sacrifice, strength and a steady example, women shape families, communities and values that last long after moments have passed. Mothers do much of that work, but so do grandmothers, sisters, daughters, mentors and the countless women whose character guides the next generation. The strength of a nation is built in homes, around dinner tables, through traditions, faith and the everyday choices women make to support others. This Mother's Day, we are grateful for the women who uphold what matters most. They remind us that some of the most important work in society is often the quiet work that does not receive enough recognition. America is stronger because of you🤍

Strong families build strong communities, and strong communities build a stronger Utah. This week, Sen. Balderree and Sen. McKell joined The Policy Project as three family-focused bills were ceremonially signed by Gov. Cox, highlighting Utah’s commitment to supporting families and strengthening communities. H.B. 190 expands child care tax credits for employers who provide child care for their employees, making it easier for working parents to support their families. H.B. 290 broadens eligibility for Utah’s child tax credit so families keep more of what they earn. H.B. 329 expands paid maternity leave for state employees to up to nine weeks. It also creates up to four weeks of paid leave for employees fostering a child, which may be used intermittently as needed, and increases support for adoptive and foster families. Utah’s senators continue to put families first.

Today, we are blessed to live in a nation where we can pray freely without fear of persecution. That freedom should never be taken for granted. We are grateful for the sacrifices made by those who came before us to secure the rights and liberties we enjoy today, including the freedom to live and worship according to our beliefs.

Utah is leading the nation with an energy strategy focused on reliability, affordability. By investing in advanced nuclear, geothermal and next-generation infrastructure, we are ensuring our state and country have the abundant energy needed to power the next industrial revolution, drive economic growth and secure America’s energy future. That vision is already becoming reality. Sen. Owens helped bring forward a company working to make microreactor technology available by July 4th 2026. This is American ingenuity in action and Utah is leading the way.
