The fact that the concept of “revisionism” is still so prevalent is funny to me. Everyone is a revisionist, do you think you occupy Marx’s exact brain space 1:1? Do you think you apply exactly what he meant even though your conditions and boundaries of applicability are completely different? To even consider to attempt such a thing as politically virtuous is nonsense to me.
We are all “revisionists”, the question is not whether we are or aren’t but what is the content of our revisionism? Does our revisionism take on the character of dogmatically reciting decrepit and outdated forms of Marxology that can only be expressed through a marginal subculture? Or does it take on the character of scientifically applying Marxism as a lens through which we can intervene concretely and politically given the conjuncture of our present conditions?
Id argue the latter constitutes the “revisionism” of Lenin, Mao, Castro, Sankara, the black panthers, you name it, and should constitute our approach as well.
Social Democrat who thinks calling themselves a socialists sounds cool and edgy: "Guys, people don't revise Marx enough these days."
