#OnThisDay, 250 years ago, the Declaration of Rights was adopted unanimously by the Fifth Virginia Convention in Williamsburg. Written by Virginian George Mason, this document would go on to influence major founding documents such as the Declaration of Independence.

250 years ago, on June 11, 1776, five delegates were tasked with drafting a document that would define a nation. Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Roger Sherman, and Robert Livingston began the work of putting independence into words.
