Ventura High alumni and NC State freshman Sadie Engelhardt placed 11th in the women's 1500 meters at the NCAA Championships in four minutes, 16.96 seconds.
Covered the first move with 500 meters to go, but faded over the final half lap to fall back from sixth.

🚨 Sahlman surges past Tyrice Taylor in the last 30m to take the Men's 800m win in 1:44.22. He split 51.29 in the first lap before coming back in a 52.94.

Runs down the field over the final 200 meters to win the NCAA 800 meter title. Went from eighth to first over the course of the second lap.
What a run.

That's the sixth-fastest time in the event outdoors, ever, and the second-fastest time ever at the national championship meet.
He also won the first NCAA title outdoors for Northern Arizona University in the 800 meters in his final race.

The fairytale senior season for Aelo Curtis continued over the weekend when she ran 4:39.11 to win the Brooks PR Invitational mile. That converts to the third-fastest 1600m run in Ventura County history.

Newbury Park High alum @ColinSahlman navigated yesterday's 800m semifinal round at NCAAs like a vet.
Started at the back of the pack and stayed out of trouble, then wound things up, navigated into qualifying position down the stretch and advanced to tomorrow's final in 1:45.56.
Can't leave it up to chance 😅
Texas A&M takes a big final surge to win heat 2 in 1:45.49 and earn an automatic qualifier in the men's 800m. NAU's Colin Sahlman earns the last auto Q to place second in the heat.

Aelo Curtis upsets a stacked field in the Brooks PR Invitational mile, closing in 64.4 seconds to win in 4:39.11.
That mark puts the recent Ventura High grad at No. 3 all-time in Ventura County history behind former teammate Sadie Engelhardt and Newbury Park’s Sam Donnell.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Estep earned a spot at the Brooks XC Championships in December with her runner-up finish in 4:40.22, while Maysen Fletcher clocked 4:40.86 for third.
