Sadly, the Royal Cornwall Show team has had to take the decision to cancel the final day of the #RCS2026 due to the weather today π§ and overnight.
Huge thanks to the @BritishArmy@EngagementSouth team for their support once again for The @VETERANSCHARITY.
See you in 2027!
Even for myself and our Cornish Team at the @RoyalCornwall Show, we will remember the #DDay landings at The @VETERANSCHARITY stand, in the Military Village with a little piece of the beaches used to help educate both young and old.
Lest we forget.
It is with deep regret that we can confirm that a training accident occurred in northern Iraq on Sunday 31 May 2026 in which a service person from the British Army died.
ALT It is with deep regret that we can confirm that a training accident occurred in northern Iraq on Sunday 31 May 2026 in which a service person from the British Army died.
The service personβs family have been informed and have requested a period of grace before further details are released.
Our thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends at this sad time.
The Royal Navy veteran who gave us pirate speak, Robert Newton, whose ashes were scattered across Mounts Bay back in the day.
Thank you for your service.
Born #OTD in 1905, Robert Newton served with the @RoyalNavy on the Arctic Convoys before becoming one of Britain's most memorable film stars
His portrayal of Long John Silver helped create the famous West Country pirate voice recognised around the world today

ALT Robert Newton, WWII Royal Navy veteran and the man who gave the word pirate voices - with a West Country twang! He is seen dressed as a pirate complete with a parrot! Born in Dorset, ashes scattered in Mounts Bay, Cornwall.
An honour to represent The @VETERANSCHARITY at the annual D-Day event at @trebahgarden yesterday.
As ever a wonderful turnout on a beautiful day at a stunning location to remember the @USArmy personnel who sailed from their bound for Normandy.
#DDayOnYourDoorstep
A wonderful element of the D-Day event at @trebahgarden is the 1940s taxi service!
Hats off to all the owners who turn out and help run those up and down to the beach on the original track created for the @USArmy.

@TheNMMC in Falmouth have recently recreated an SOE Surf Boat seen here crewed by the EPIC @PilotCornish team.
These boats would often be towed behind launches and released off shore to carry agents in and downed pilots out.

Aldershot is home to not only the @BritishArmy but also a magnificent Ribbon of Poppies in 2026!
