Since the latest volume of @VCUComics released yesterday, I can finally share my comic "Spoils"!
ALT Page 1 -
Panel 1: Close up on narrator’s finger poking into a donut.
Panel 2: Medium shot of the narrator poking into the donut, purposefully. She’s looking directly at it.
Panel 3: Narrator licks her finger.
Text box: “Oops.” Guess that one’s ruined!
Panel 4: Narrator grabs the donut and leaves.
Panel 5: Narrator notes the donut down on the spoil sheet, which is on a clipboard on the wall.
Text box: I spend all day making the food here but I don’t get to eat it. I can only take something if it’s “spoiled,” and they keep track of the inventory numbers so you can’t take too much or they notice.
ALT Page 2 -
Panel 1: Narrator is in the break room, eating the donut.
Text box: I mean, I'm not supposed to take the spoiled food either, but I have to get something to eat on break somehow.
Panel 2: A close up on the half-eaten donut.
Text box: It makes no difference to them whether it goes in my mouth or the trash.
Panel 3: A close up on the narrator, from chest up, cutting off above the mouth. Crumbs are on the collar of her work polo shirt. She’s wearing a name tag but the name is not visible.
Text box: The vermin get to it one way or another.
Panel 4: The narrator’s phone timer is going off. Her screen is cracked.
Text box 1: Oh, fuck, gotta clock back in.
Text box 2: I can hear my manager yelling from here.
ALT Page 3 -
Panel 1: The narrator is back at the cash register, with a somewhat manic and clearly fake smile.
Text box: I want to burn this whole building down.
Panel 2: A close up on her eye. Fire is reflected in her pupil.
Text box: I’ll diligently mark it down on the sheet.
Panel 3: Fire burns around the Spoil Sheet, and the corner of the paper on the clipboard is alight. On the sheet, “THE BAKERY” is scrawled with a tally mark in the number column.
Text box 1: Maybe if I destroy them enough
Text box 2: the things I make can finally be mine.
The end.
