Miggy forever in the record books
Tim Ream conceded a free-kick and was shown a yellow card for his 'challenge' on Paraguay's Miguel Almiron. After the free-kick was taken, referee Danny Makkelie was sent to the screen by the VAR and overturned his decision, rescinding Ream's caution and instead booking Almiron, who had clearly dived. The energy in the air right now is unmistakable. A World Cup on home soil is something we’ve been building toward for years, and having the eyes of the global game fixed right here is an incredible moment.

Thinking about the magnitude of this week, it’s impossible not to think of Grant Wahl. He would have been over the moon right now. Grant lived for moments like this - writing with a distinct, generous authority, making sure we all appreciated the history unfolding in front of us.
