The VPD’s newest state-of-the-art vessel was officially christened today. The R.G. McBeath, a custom-designed 45-foot Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB), will strengthen the Marine Unit’s ability to keep Vancouver’s waterways safe.
The vessel honours fallen VPD officer R.G. McBeath, who was killed in the line of duty in 1922.
This important addition to the #VPD fleet was made possible by the generosity of the @VanPoliceFnd.

Will you be out on the water for the fireworks tonight? You'll be joining hundreds of boats and other watercraft -- all competing for limited space. People using non-motorized watercraft, such as paddleboards and kayaks, have an assigned holding area for their safety.
@VPDMarineUnit will be checking for proper safety equipment and measures, such as PFDs, lights, sobriety, number of passengers, and operator certifications.

Thanks to the generosity of @VanPoliceFnd and the expertise of the team @Liquid__Metal , our new vessel is taking shape! This 12-metre RHIB will be equipped with state-of-the-art equipment that will assist officers to safely respond to calls for service in all weather conditions.

Today we assisted @MarMamRescue with the release of harbour seals “Starlight Reefs” and “Silver Surfer”. They were rescued and rehabilitated for over 2 months by @vanaqua staff and volunteers. They’re now healthy enough to go back to the wild. No hesitations here! @VancouverPD
