Forest Road's kindergartners soared to new heights during their moving-up ceremony! Kindergartners and their teachers wore vibrant shirts that read “Super Ready for 1st Grade!”

Students performed a medley of songs for their family members centered around heroism and bravery, and Principal Kelly Nicholson commended each student for all of their incredible achievements!

On Monday, Clear Stream rolled out the red carpet for kindergartners during their moving-up ceremony! Held in the school’s gymnasium, students dressed to impress as they proudly marched down the red carpet in front of their parents, siblings, and teachers!

Students then performed a collection of songs for their family members, and Principal John Singleton recognized each student for all of their accomplishments. Afterward, each student received a certificate from their teachers.

Twelve educators in Valley Stream District 30 received tenure during the board of education’s monthly meeting! Principals at all three schools created a thoughtful video to honor their amazing educators.

All of the honorees received gifts from the board of education, and many received a flower bouquet from their principals. The district would like to thank its staff members for all of their hard work and for being dedicated members of the Valley Stream 30 school community!

The district would like to thank all of the residents who participated in the 2025-26 budget vote. The budget passed by a vote of 300 yes votes to 133 no votes.

We would also like to congratulate James Lavery for being re-elected to the Board of Education with 359 votes. Thank you to our Valley Stream 30 residents for your continued support!

Voting will take place on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 between the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the elementary school within your school election district:  Shaw Avenue, Clear Stream Avenue and Forest Road.

Second graders at Shaw Avenue recently completed a weeklong interactive program called Submerge Storytelling! The program aims to inspire creativity in children by facilitating a physical and metaphysical environment where they can lose themselves in their imaginations.

As part of an Operation Battery simulation, students used magnifying glasses to closely examine the different minerals such as pyrite, calcite, malachite, and lepidolite based on their color.
