ALT The Kakehashi Project is designed to promote people-to-people exchange between Japan and the United States. The program will provide participants with an enhanced understanding of Japanese economics, society, history, culture, politics, and diplomatic policies and encourage individuals to play an active role in the future of U.S.-Japan relations. A key element of this program is traveling beyond Tokyo and staying with a Japanese host family for a few days. The Japanese word “kakehashi” means “bridge,” which symbolizes the hope that participants will form lasting relationships with Japan and its people, and serve as bridges between nations and cultures. Participants who travel to Japan are encouraged to share their experiences and discoveries with their networks at home, and contribute to greater appreciation of Japanese culture worldwide. This program is organized jointly by the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) and the Japan International Cooperation

ALT Freddie Scholarship for LGBTQIA Students. In each of Freddie's operating states, one scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded to a student enrolled full-time in undergraduate studies for the 2024/2025 academic year. ALT Summer TERC Scholars Program: STEM Education Research through a Social Justice Lens (SJL). A Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU). As part of an eight-student cohort, SJL interns will be mentored by TERC principal investigators and their project teams. SJL interns can expect to receive training on essential education research methodologies encounter and address critical issues and perspectives of social justice in STEM and education receive professional development training to support pathways to graduate school, research careers, and other diverse career options interact with other research students at Tufts University through the Visiting Early Research Scholars’ Experiences (VERSE) program.

ALT National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) Summer Research Internship Program. Students participate in research internships by working with leading NIDA scientists at universities across the United States for eight weeks during the summer. The internship may include laboratory experiments, data collection, data analysis, formal courses, participation in lab meetings, patient interviews, manuscript preparation, and literature reviews. In addition, each intern will have an opportunity to deliver a brief presentation on their research project at the end of the internship.

ALT Summer Internships in Parallel Computational Science (SIParCS). SIParCS (pronounced sigh-parks) is for university students (both undergraduate and graduate students) who are interested in pursuing careers in such areas as: Application Optimization; Data Science; Machine Learning; Numerical Methods; Software Engineering; Supercomputing Systems Operations; Visualization.
