Update on Vabble Development and Growth.
Over the past several months, we have been conducting further research on if Vabble is going in the right direction in terms of product.
We have asked ourselves some very difficult questions, and it has taken some time to answer them for ourselves, the community, and of course the technology.
I believe we are in a position to speak on what we need to do next.
Vabble in its current state has a lot of high friction barriers, not only for content watchers but also the people distributing the content itself. The exact opposite of what we wanted to achieve in the first place.
Our current system is fighting against the gain, the UX that other platforms offer which is easy, seamless, and now second nature to most. E.G: YouTube, Netflix, Prime, etc.
Here are the coming changes. These will take some time so bear with us. Until then, the Vabble ecosystem as it is today will remain active until then
The DAO:
What will remain?
Staking
Governance Proposals and some of their variables
What will change:
1. Studio Accounts.
2. Proposal Uploading.
3. Voting on proposals.
Essentially, anything to do with content.
On the streamer side, here is what will change:
1. Content gets uploaded directly in the streamer. Once finished uploading, its immediately available to stream.
2. The whole streamer needs to be opened up, allowing people to browse before signing up/logging in.
3. Content rental button will change.
People will no longer rent a movie or buy them etc. And the platform will not only host movies. It will host all types of video content. See why below
Each creator on Vabble has a coin minted when they create their account. Everything to do that, from metadata, to minting, to creating the LP pool, etc is all handled in the zora repo. The creator gets a supply percentage somewhere between 0.5 and 1.5%, same with vabble.
When a user wants to watch content or a movie, etc, uploaded by a creator, they must either buy the creators coin (This is where we switch out the rent movie button to buy coin) or if they already have the creator coin, they can watch it. There will be a minimum amount a user must hold in their wallet.
The creator makes money themselves as the token appreciates in price. The token will appreciate if the creators content does well since more people will be buying the creator coin to watch the creators content.
People will still be able to tip per video in VFX, USDC, etc, for an added bonus for the creator.
There are other changes to be made in between but those are the core of the changes. This has taken a lot of time and effort to arrive at and meditate over but it is the correct decision for Vabble, VFX, the community, and more.
We deeply appreciate every holder, team member, advisor, and everyone else who has been patient with us while we assessed what is the next step.
Vabble is still on track to be a key player in the content and entertainment industry onchain. Sometimes we just have to adapt to the changing environment and evolving technology, and that is what we are doing.
