A semi carrying heavy axles has overturned westbound on I-70 at the very west end of Dowd Junction. Both lanes are blocked. It will take a long while to clean up and a crane or other heavy piece of machinery will be required to reload the axles on to a new truck.

Traffic is being diverted onto Highway 6 at Minturn but it will be slow going and a back up into Vail is expected. Please avoid traveling west out of Vail if possible, and please be patient with clean up operations.

VPD has responded to 10 bike thefts in 4 days. The department has identified a vehicle and person of interest related to these cases. Those with info on the car or individual pictured are asked to contact VPD at 970-479-2201.
