Single player games have much shorter playtime than the most popular multiplayer games like dota 2 and csgo. Game sales in 2024 so far arent significantly different from other years.

Im glad chinese videogames are seeing some light recently. Other giant hits would be stuff like warm snow, guijian 3, tales of immortal, unheard, bright memory.
Black myth wukong I believe is the first "AAA" singleplayer. But im not totally sure. Hope to see more investment come

Disturbed? With all due respect Harada I think it makes sense from a business standpoint to stop introducing NEW characters on each release avoid this conundrum you bring upon yourself. What's wrong with just improving characters story line on each release & introducing new moves

The platform being agnostic lets the outside curation decide what should make money rather than a panel of a handful of judges that deem you worth based on their personal whims.
Keep letting the public decide what the people want to buy.

We should redefine indie as multiple categories like "small team" or "under a certain budget" as that better celebrates a wider range of experiences.
I dont think consumers care, have accurate awareness of, or consider the publishing.

How would anyone audit this? Theres no way possible a developer can know the numbers are accurate or fruad.
"Trust me" isnt good enough for a bill the size of a house.
We leverage our own proprietary data model, so you can appreciate that we won’t go into a lot of detail, but we believe it gives an accurate determination of the number of times the runtime is distributed for a given project.

This is a time capsule for the future. People will forget, so you must remember. Baulders gate 3 was not "bug free on launch". Starfield was not "just as buggy as skyrim". Dont believe thier lies.

Heres my starfield thoughts. Its one of the best campaigns, but its the worst openworld bethesda experience. If you deleted 90% of the solar systems you wouldnt remove a shred of authored content.
Newgame is one of their best ideas but theres no meaningful follow through.

Some short baulders gate 3 thoughts. They have 400 developers, and modern AAA 1000 . No matter how amazing those 400 devs are theres a limit in maximum labor output that produces.
The game made choices around reusing assets, and made compromises for that strategy.

When the game says 176 hours of cutscenes and 17000 endings, its done through reusing content its not 176 hours of tlou2 cutscenes, its not 176 hours if ff16 eikon battles. Theres no infinite energy machine. AAA devs arent "scared" of this game setting a standard. Its priorities.

A quick dave the diver game review:
Tons of cutscenes and polish, art looks cool. The gameplay loop is the most fun at the start but becomes lopsided and repetitive as you gain up capacity and your stay in the water gets longer and longer.
I rate it "sakuna of rice and ruin"/10

Thats fair enough. Using only games in the same year as Luigis mansion 3's release, 2019. Luigi outsold Death Stranding, Sekiro, Metro Exodus, Outer Worlds, Kingdom hearts 3,The Division 2, Resident Evil 2 Remake,Control,The Outer Worlds. Dont underestimate the man in green.

Videogame sales has increased a lot in the last 10 years, games like FNV, FC3 and 4, Old FFs, SF4... cant compete because they were release when the videogame´s market was way smaller than the current one.

Luigis mansion 3 also sold more copies than Elder scrolls: Oblivion, Fallout New Vegas, Fallout 76, Far Cry 3 and 4, Watchdogs, Final Fantasy 8,9,10,12,13, 15. Every Five Nights At Freddys game combined.Street Fighter 4 and 5, Resident Evil Village. Give props to the Green King.
