“Nazi” isn’t a slur. It’s a word that describes real people who earnestly believe in their ideas. Their ideas are disgusting and hateful, but of course they often do not realize it. I keep running into racists who think that it’s not white supremacist to think that white people are inherently superior to other races. No…that’s the whole definition!! The fact that they believe it earnestly and don’t think it’s an idiotic, hateful belief doesn’t mean it’s not an idiotic, hateful belief. Nazi isn’t a word that means “bad evil boogeyman” it means “someone who believes in their own racial superiority, extreme protectionist nativism, the purifying of society by eliminating undesirables, expansionism, active suppression of dissent, and total state power held in the hands of a very small group.” Make sure the people you’re cheering for don’t believe these things because otherwise…

To be clear, you're calling for a New Jersey-born bishop to be deported because you don't like that she exercised her First Amendment right by delivering a sermon in accordance with her faith imploring Trump to show empathy to people?

I don’t know about Instagram yet and sometimes I’m on TikTok… and I always exist in tangible form, and so do you. I encourage us all to use that form to hug people and trees and write in journals and participate in putting democracy back together.

And then I thought maybe I should just erase all of my Tweets and stay? @bethofalltrades came up with that idea and maybe I’ll do that or maybe I won’t. But go to blue sky cause I’ll be there for sure so all of the good pictures and things will now be there.

Something has unlaced in me. I used to be so particular about what I said online to make sure it made me feel safe and now I’m just very concerned that I am understood and that people know that I am a safe place. I am giving up this illusion of safety.

But honestly, there’s another part of me like do they want us all to go away? Isn’t it good for me to be on the app made by the guy who was doing the fink salute the other day?

The Takeaway lesson is: we need to find many ways to be in community and yes virtual community counts but if something feels strange, you get that person on the phone and talk to them with your face
