Punica would make a great sword and sorcery adaptation of the Hellenistic world but everyone keeps using it like alternate Livy, just read these descriptions of the Roman allies.
Replying to @VeliteAquila
Legitimately half of the Roman allies at Cannae are armed like they're in the Paleolithic in this poem, yeah I'm gonna judge you for taking it seriously

I've long taken issue with using Silius Italicus' Punica as a source for Punic war infantrymen (even though there are fragments of truth, you can tell when he's referencing other historians) because if you actually read it, it makes it seem like a huge caveman war.

This is another one of those strange cases where I'm like the 3rd person ever (as far as I'm aware) who's drawn some obscure ancient culture, only beat by McBride himself and someone on Deviantart (you'd be surprised how often that happens).

I've grown unhappy with my current art process as I've forgetten the fun part was spending hours looking at sources and searching for references. Apart from some irl business (good, just time consuming) I'll probably be taking a lot longer between pieces. Some old WIPS for now.

Captain moron here doesn't understand that you can read a source and not take everything at face value.
Can’t believe I have to say this, but no, Livy did not just make all of Roman history up, and yes, you should absolutely read Livy and learn from it, despite every classicist on here telling you otherwise.

Also, Livy's passage on the Roman army from the Latin war is famously hard to interpret, likely because Livy didn't really understand the source he was citing.
