the tomb raider reboot, while i liked it, was weird as FUCK because it did that to a character that supposed to subvert the idea of masculine protagonists being the only ones who can be badasses

Speaking as someone with "a weird gore fetish" these scenes arent really that hot or pornographic.
They are however kinda icky in the broader way of how these games take a badass woman protagonist and turns her into a vulnerable squishy torture toy for the animators.
