This is why Congress needs to pass @RepEliCrane’s End H-1B Visa Abuse Act (HR 8443). It would end OPT, require foreign students to leave the US immediately after graduation, and subject all H-1B employers to Trump’s $100K fee, among other things.

Restoring the American Melting Pot. We were a land of immigrants who became one people. They assimilated into English, rule of law, work ethic, and civic unity because policy and culture expected it. Pre-1965 laws protected that stability. Post-1965 policy changed the inflows and the incentives. Assimilation is no longer automatic or uniform. English proficiency and integration vary widely by origin and the rules we set. If I had to pick one battle right now, it would be this: Enforce the social contract.

—Real interior enforcement that makes illegal presence costly.
—Legal immigration reform that selects for skills, English, and self-sufficiency — not chain migration or cheap labor arbitrage. Deport those here illegally and those who break the rules after arrival. For legal residents, enforce the terms of admission. Protect American workers’ wages and the cultural cohesion that turned past immigration into strength instead of fragmentation. The melting pot isn’t self-sustaining.
