You can’t judge a camera by the monitor you view. Well... unless you like the way the manufacturer set the rec709 LUT output. If that’s what you like than maybe you can judge. It won’t be accurate or represent the capabilities of the camera, but it is what you like.

Try a @RED_Cinema Monstro with Atlas Orion Anamorphic lenses. The camera’s resolutions from 4K-8K the lenses field of view can get wider or tighter. So much flexibility added to the focal length ranges. Once you shoot this way it will be hard to go back!

We are the craft of digital cinema. We have to lose our inferiority complex to film. We have the highest resolution cameras and the most dynamic range to create with. We need to embrace the tech, master it and redefine what is cinematic.

Camera resolution is important. I’ve noticed the only ones who say it isn’t are the ones who prefer to use cameras that can’t shoot 5K yet. I’ll bet that changes when they begin to release the new 6K LF mini. Then the old 3.2K won’t be worth squat.
