This week, Vision Zero partners walked along a dangerous and deadly stretch of Sullivant Avenue to determine what short, mid and long-term solutions can be made to improve safety. Designing safer streets takes effort from all of us!
Vision Zero partners visited a stretch of Harmon Ave that has seen a high number of serious injury and fatal crashes, and crashes involving people walking, biking or riding a motorcycle. The team evaluated the street and discussed short, mid and long-term ways to improve safety.
Our Vision Zero Coordinator appeared on WOSU All Sides to discuss what Vision Zero is doing to prevent serious traffic crashes on Columbus streets. Give it a listen to learn more!👇 wosu.org/show/all-sides/2026…
Columbus city streets saw zero fatal crashes this Memorial Day weekend. Last year, there were 2 fatal crashes in May. Both took place at night during Memorial Day weekend. Zero is possible, even during one of the busiest road trip weekends in Ohio.

Remember to slow down and maintain a safe distance from other drivers. Speeds can change unexpectedly, and speeding reduces your reaction time. In 2024, speed was a factor in more than one-third of fatal work zone crashes, and rear-end collisions caused nearly one-quarter. #NWZAW
#TrafficSafetyAwareness is an everyday promise to to be safe on the roads whether you're walking, riding your bike, or behind the wheel. Help our community achieve Vision Zero by taking the @VisionZeroCbus pledge, today. Pledge online at tinyurl.com/5aadt7js
Keep a safe distance from work zones as you drive with caution. In 2024, large trucks or buses were involved in nearly one-third of fatal work zone crashes. Allow extra space, large vehicles need room to maneuver. #NWZAW
Vision Zero and the @cbusneighbor 311 team presented at @colscityschools Yorktown Middle School for #TrafficSafetyAwarenessWeek, teaching students how to be safer passengers, cyclists and pedestrians, and providing them with resources to improve their community.
Unpredictable work zones require full focus. In 2024, more than half of all fatal work zone crashes occurred at night. Distractions were involved in more than one in eight fatal work zone crashes. Pay attention, especially at night. #NWZAW
