TOP 7 mistakes I made with my first mobile app π
1. thinking being on the stores is enough to bring loads of new users constantly
2. ZERO market research, competitor analysis etc before launching
3. automated fucking useless AI slideshows with OpenClaw too early, and for too long, thinking it would crack TikTok for me on autopilot
4. not tracking all in-app events right from the start (PostHog) not analysing data enough the first few months: activity, retention, most used feature etc
5. thinking users would use the "share feedback" feature lol. if you want feedback, go ask users directly (good luck)
6. not realising how much mobile apps and SaaS are two complete different games
7. not spending enough time on TikTok (and/or IG). if you're making a B2C app you just can't ignore it (at least it replaces doomscrolling)
and many more ofc...
it's also the first time I build something for a complete different audience, not for tech twitter / builders on X
building a SaaS in public here feels so much easier in comparison π
you can literally build, ship and make money the same day, all while talking directly with people...
instead of waiting 2 months for a $7 payout from Apple (if you even got some MRR)
but both markets are fascinating π₯
the transparent stats after 5 months
β’ 200 users
β’ 50 paired couples
β’ 5 sales
β out of actual couples, that's 10% conversion ??
β 75% try the app and have no partner, or never invite them pairing happens in the first few hours or never
v1: better post-onboarding activation but ZERO retention
v2: better onboarding conversion, 6x signups, partners join 8x faster, first retention ever
v2 is much better: onboarding, features, more engaging...
emotional features > practical features
marketing is working, just slow!!!
but at least now it's even more worht it as they won't all churn like before πͺπΌ
