Excited for this historic day in Washington state as we kick off our first-ever men's World Cup match in Seattle with Belgium vs. Egypt. Washington is proud to welcome fans from around the world so they can experience firsthand why Seattle is the best soccer city in the country. Good luck to the teams!

In Moses Lake today to open our state's — and our country's — first Sustainable Aviation Fuel production facility that takes carbon dioxide and turns it into jet fuel. Washington state is ready to lead on innovation in Sustainable Aviation Fuel. We have deep historical roots in aerospace that has helped us build an ecosystem of 1,500 aerospace companies, world-class research institutions, deep engineering talent, and a highly skilled workforce. Congratulations to everyone at Twelve!

The latest State of the States Report shows Washington ranks first in the nation in economic productivity, 9th highest in economic output and 11th in hourly earnings growth. That’s great news, but we must continue to work on tackling our economic challenges — Washington’s income inequality is worse than half the other states, and our poverty rate is middle-of-the-road. Read the full report here: stateofnation.org/washington… Some other encouraging findings: Washington is in the top third of states in average years of education, voter participation, life expectancy and air quality.

Science supports a phone-free school environment. No single policy can solve every challenge in education, but my “Away for the Day” proposal will make a big difference in our students’ social and academic engagement.
Students are missing what’s written on the whiteboard and focusing more on memes instead of math because of digital distractions. Studies show teenagers spend, on average, roughly a quarter of their school day on their cellphones – more than 41 instructional days over the course of a school year. Parents, teachers and school districts are working hard to protect kids, but they need support. That’s why I’m proposing Washington’s first law getting cellphones out of classrooms. It’s time to put phones “Away for the Day” in K-12 schools.

Not an Onion headline — government leaders should be talking much more about how we can support women's health.

2 in 5 women considered leaving a job, or did leave a job, due to menopause symptoms. 1 in 4 considered not pursuing, or did not pursue, a leadership opportunity. I signed an executive order to support women, and to support employers who want to keep their experienced staff.

We're making historic investments in maintenance and preservation of our roads and bridges, without raising taxes. We're committed to replacing the Interstate Bridge. We're cutting license and permit processing times and changing the culture of state government. Great to speak at the Washington State Building and Construction Trades Council 2026 Convention about that progress, as well as the work ahead to create jobs and support our workers.

We just raised the Pride flag in Olympia. I want Washingtonians to know that there is zero chance we would ever bend the knee to the hate and attacks we see from Washington DC. You have my word on that.

Washington state's economy was just ranked 2nd in the country by WalletHub. That's no surprise. We have the 9th largest economy in the nation. We dominate in space industry manufacturing. We had the largest increase in the country in requests to form new businesses. And our state continues to grow, with U-Haul rankings showing that Washington state ranks 6th for gaining one-way movers. We're going to keep continuing this progress by investing in our roads and bridges, building more housing, and making our tax system more fair.

As we start our celebration of Pride Month, I'm excited to see our strong ranking and positive movement up the list in the annual LGBTQ Business Climate Index from Out Leadership. Times like this, with outrageous attacks coming from the federal government, are when our commitment is tested. We're going to continue to lean into our values of inclusion for all of the people of our state. From the report: "Washington is frequently referred to as one of the United States’ most LGBT-friendly states, and its largest city, Seattle, has a thriving LGBTQ community, ranked as the fifth largest in the country."

Every day in my office is Washington State Ferries Day — but we decided to make it official for their 75th anniversary. Proud of the progress we've made, including restoring full domestic service, hiring hundreds of new deck and engine crew members, and reducing cancellations.

My prayers remain with the families of the 11 workers killed in Longview, and those injured. I’m also thinking of the responders who, again and again, went into an extremely complex environment to ensure these families could begin to get the closure they deserve. Thank you to these heroes.

Like too many issues around women's health, we don't talk much about menopause — and certainly not from a podium with government leaders standing in support. Menopause will affect half our population at some point in their lives. Women shouldn't have to navigate this change alone.
Today, I signed an executive order to support women in the workplace who experience perimenopause and menopause symptoms. This will ensure my cabinet agencies have appropriate measures in place to support state employees experiencing menopause symptoms. As Governor, my administration will be a place where workers can serve the people of Washington and know they'll be supported. We'll share this expertise and guidance with employers all across our state. We believe this is one of the most comprehensive single pieces of policy put forward to date combining worker protections with increasing health profession education on perimenopause and menopause.
