I was honored to moderate today’s conference at the House of Representatives, hosted by Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton. The event was coordinated by the @WCHR_DC Washington Center for Human Rights and its director, Saif Al Mouthana @sshiaab We discussed the ramifications of the #Sudan Crisis, shedding light on the humanitarian violations, the threat of a governmental vacuum in Sudan, and the dangers posed by #AlQaeda and other terrorist organizations. We also examined the role of #Iran and #UAE in tis crisis. Speakers: 1. Hagir Elsheikh is a prominent Sudanese American activist and political analyst Currently, she is part of Sudan's working advocacy group for Congress and the State Department. She also serves as an advisor for several humanitarian organizations working for Sudan, including the UN, UNDP, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Safer World Organization, CIPE, Concordia, Project Expedite Justice, FCNL Organization, USAID, and the Sudan Human Rights Watch. 2. Councilman Mohamed "Mo" Seifeldein is the first Sudanese American and Immigrant to be elected to the Alexandria City Council, occupying a position that was once held by George Washington. He served from 2019-2021. Mo is a lawyer and holds a legal certificate in international comparative law. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the Sudanese American Physicians Association. It was a privilege to be part of such an important discussion.
