Do you still post Christmas cards? The earliest dateable posting 'slot' is from 1809 when it was installed in the wall at Wakefield Post Office on the corner of Wood Street and Cross Street. It is now in the possession of @WFMuseums This was years before the first post boxes.
Families had a lovely time meeting Pontefract Museum's special sweet Santa in his liquorice grotto as part of the Museum's festivities!
