1/ We all know that if I can see your eyes, you can see mine. This is thanks to the optical *reciprocity principle*, which states that light paths are reversible. But what if there’s a scattering medium between us, like fog? Can reciprocity still help us “see”? 👁️👁️#Physics

Check out our new @NaturePhotonics paper on the generation of cluster states at record-high rates using high-dimensional entanglement: nature.com/articles/s41566-0… We use spatial entanglement to reduce the number of photons and feed-forward steps in photonic quantum computation (a 🧵)

So what? In the rest of the paper we develop two potential applications: 1. From the RME measurement, we can estimate the level and geometry of the disorder. Interesting for manufacturing, quality control, and modeling applications!

2. We show a way to find channels with improved RME compared to the average behavior. Interesting for imaging applications! Thanks for reading!

New preprint: we show wavefront shaping with a new kind of MEMS megapixel spatial light modulator that has fast pistoning micro-mirrors: arxiv.org/abs/2409.01289 (includes code to run it fast). Great effort from project lead José @carl00s01, also with @gsdgordon @joelacarpenter.

3. Mechanical stability DMDs are typically connected to a PCB with a rigid cable, transmitting vibrations from the fan. A simple fix: isolate the cable with foam—boring but effective!

4. Thermal Stability DMD response changes with temperature, and they heat up over time… You can either engineer a cooling system or wait for it to stabilize after a few hours.
