South Africa is leading the world in wine production integrity, and since 2010, the authorities have established an official seal which endorses the sustainable production of wines. Currently, 95% of producers are wholeheartedly implementing them.

The Hemel-en-Aarde consists of three appellations, the valley, the upper valley and the ridge. The terroir varies slightly between the three, blessed by a common maritime influence and higher than usual rainfall patterns and clay soils.
