Beautiful but bumpy ride this morning with flares and R1 RBO to start the day at 0942 UTC. Decided to leave the 20AH at home and run off the 705 stock battery (big mistake). Probably went 50 minutes without a QSO. Bands finally cleared up enough to log 12 contacts.
Sold my trusty IC-7200 and LDG tuner for $750 today. I’m going to miss it, but it wasn’t getting used much anymore. It will make another OP as happy as it did me no doubt.
Another nice morning activation of Lackawanna State Park. Slow and the bands seemed a little sloppy. I did manage to log 11 Qs with one to Nefoundland first thing. Had to QSY several times with other stations calling CQ on my freq (I assume they just couldn't hear me at 10W).
Nice sunrise CW outing today. 22 QSOs with 10W through the coil loaded vertical. Mostly 40 meters, but I did get a couple on 20 and 30. No DX, but Boise, ID is a fair hike.
Felt good to get my first CW sunrise of the season in before the rain showers moved in again. 18 40 meter QSOs with 5W CW from the 705 and WRC loaded 213” whip. Not a peep on 20 which was unusual but I did make the trip from NEPA to WA.
Nice evening activation. 42 QSOs about evenly split between 20 and 40 meters CW with 20W from my IC-7200 through a 113 inch coil loaded vertical. Arizona (not shown on the map), UK and Spain were my farthest contacts. Used my key as both a sideswiper and single lever paddle.
Really nice activation today. 10 SSB (including Spain) and 10 CW. All 5W on 20 meters with the 705 and 213” whip. Beautiful day for a change at almost 50F for the ice fishermen.
Good quick video about additional risks recently discovered with Flock's AI powered cameras that are tracking you with facial ID, by license plate, by vehicle type, etc... and making all of that data available to criminals and governments (same/same) on the internet for all to use to target you and your family.
This mass surveillance system is unconstitutional (Carpenter v. United States, 2018) and must be stopped.

Nice afternoon activation of Lackawanna State Park. 20 QSOs in 50 minutes with about 20 minutes of hunting at the end. All 10W CQ on 20 meters with my IC-705. What an awesome rig!! 213” whip on a tripod with 6 ground radials and my new DIY choke. Sneaking up on a kilo too.
Had a nice activation of Lackawanna State Park this morning. Had a little trouble tuning the coil and 113” mil whip on mag mount to 40M. I think it was a senior moment and the dark didn’t help. Slow, but did log 14 Qs in just over an hour on 40, 20 and 15. IC-705 and 5W.
Help me decide. I was planning on buying a 705 before the end of the year. The recent price hike combined with the great HRO deal on the FRX-1 right now has got me reconsidering. Please offer an option and know I have no allegiance to either company.
