You all have turned into AMAZING invasive species spotters! This week, a picture of a #SpottedLanterfly was posted to @inaturalist with the location listed as in the Longview area. 😱 Many people reached out to us about this observation (awesome!!). 😍
Good news! This was a FALSE ALARM! 📵The image was actually from West Virginia but was uploaded with the incorrect location listed as Washington State. We are still spotted-lanternfly-free! 🎉
Quick reports like this are what will help us prevent this destructive pest from establishing here when (we know it is coming!) it arrives. You can always report suspected sightings to us or download the WA Invasives app from the Washington Invasive Species Council.

📣 WSDA discovered a yellow-legged hornet (Vespa velutina) at the Port of Vancouver on April 30. We're asking those in the area to be on the lookout and report suspected sightings.
