SHOOTING:At approximately 2:45 pm, officers responded to the area of 3900 S 4400 W where an adult male succumbed to injuries from a gunshot wound. Initial reports indicate this was an accidental discharge of a firearm. However this investigation is ongoing.

FATAL ACCIDENT: an SUV traveling EB on 4100 S. is reported to have run red light and collided with a commercial vehicle traveling NB on Mountain View Corridor.
Both drivers were transported to hospital. Driver of SUV has died. Driver of commercial vehicle is in good condition.

About 11 AM, traffic officers l conducting an enforcement operation along Bangerter Highway observed a vehicle run a red light NB at 3500 S. The officer attempted a stop. The suspect instead turned around at 3100 S. and headed SB. The Officer stopped pursuing. 1/3

At 3500 S., the suspect ran another red light and hit a vehicle. The suspect, then fled on foot. Officers pursued and were able to catch the suspect. One officer suffered an injury during that process. It is not life-threatening. 2/3

The 9 teens involved in the rollover of an SUV range in age from 15-17. The driver is a 16 yo male who was released from the hospital. The deceased is a 15 yo female. All other passengers in the vehicle are males. No updated conditions available.

UPDATE: 9 Cyprus High students left campus and were traveling east on a dirt road section of 4100 south which is just west of 8400 west. The SUV they were in rolled. A 15 year old girl was ejected. She is deceased. 4 students were taken to the hospital. 4 students were not hurt.

MISSING PERSON: we are asking for help locating 31yo Shianne Turner, who has been missing since 2/14/26.
On 2/13/26, Shianne contacted her mother, stating she was leaving town to travel to either Las Vegas or Arizona because she believed someone was going to harm her.

UPDATE: two auto pedestrian incidents happened this morning at 4700 W. 5600 S. This is a border between West Valley City and Kearns. The first incident happened on the Kearns side. That incident involving a juvenile is being investigated by UPD.

The adult was taken to the hospital in good condition for injuries to his leg. The juvenile suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital. The driver who hit both the adult and the juvenile, fled the scene.

Three adult men were found deceased after being left in a running vehicle.
