▪️Say no to government controlled digital ID. ▪️Say no Checkpoint Britain. ▪️Say no to a ‘papers-please’ society on your phone that destroys privacy and freedom. ▪️Say no to government surveillance on every service you use, every place you go, or every transaction you make. ▪️Say no to the risk of another post office scandal / data breach waiting to happen Britain has always rejected national ID cards. We fought too hard for liberty to hand it over for “convenience” or the illusion of “safety”. This is about government control. We don’t need a government app on our phones to prove we exist. Britain must remain a free country - not a government owned database state. Because no one voted for this.

Very much worth listening to an expert and watching this in full. Perhaps most notable is this: ‘I’ve told the government this over the last year. I know they have heard this from other influential academics and charities that the evidence base just isn’t there to support bans. But politically it’s popular because it seems like an easy solution, but it is not the nuanced one.’ So the government are acutely aware that the precedent in other countries illustrates that a wholesale ban doesn’t work and that the experts advise against it from a child safety and wellbeing standpoint. And yet they still went ahead with it.
The UK government has announced plans to introduce a social media ban for under-16s by spring 2027. Professor @Sander_vdLinden shares his reaction to today's news, and measures it against the evidence we already have about social media restrictions. Learn more about his proposal for social media passports 👉 youtube.com/watch?v=Y4RUNJVF… Professor Sander van der Linden is the Director of the Cambridge Social Decision-Making Laboratory and a Professorial Fellow of @ChurchillCol. #SocialMediaBan #SocialMedia

I think we all just need to refuse to have anything to do with digital ID. A critical mass of refuseniks will bring the whole thing to its knees. Otherwise it's permanent slavery.
I have that currently but just tried using my bank card to verify that I’m over 18 it wouldn’t verify it and I’ve literally got no photo ID

I had the great hopes for this government, it showed early promise. Early, but short-lived.

The Royal Society for Blind Children and the National Deaf Children's Society have both come out against the Starmer social media ban. "Internet bad" is a trendy, upper-middle-class opinion for people with extracurricular budgets that ignores legions of people who rely on it.

So how come the govt can force these tech giants go abide by this law but not to pay fair tax?
NEW: U.K. advances proposal to force Apple, Google, Signal, & other platforms to scan private content on users’ devices — executives could face prison if they refuse.

People only hate Elon Musk because he comes from an emerald mining fortune made in apartheid South Africa, he buys ideas and pretends he’s an inventor, he’s a white supremacist, union-busting, abusive employer, he’s hoarding $1T in stolen wages, he makes us ashamed to be human,

I saw a post on Reddit that said that “The underlying purpose of AI is to allow wealth to access skill while removing from the skilled the ability to access wealth.” And I don’t think I’ve ever seen AI described so incisively.

Arsenal, one of England’s big football clubs, just donated a pile of their players’ old socks to a horse and donkey sanctuary, and the rescued animals are now wearing them. It works because modern football socks are footless. Players wear separate grip socks on their feet, so the long sleeves get thrown out. That shape turns out to be perfect for sliding onto an animal’s leg, where they keep flies off sore skin, hold bandages in place, and cover the leg while hooves are trimmed. The sanctuary, the biggest of its kind in Britain, says the bright red socks have already cut down on vet visits. The donkeys have also decided they make good toys, and have taken to pulling bananas out of them.

Teen daughter had sex education today where all pupils put a condom on a dildo. One of the girls asked: ‘Why do girls need to learn this?’ And the teacher said: ‘Well, in case the man doesn’t know how to do it.’ Apparently my daughter then said: ‘Why the hell would we be with a man who doesn’t know how to put a condom on?’ I could not be more proud. 😂😂😂

Do you know, I think it might be time to dig out my old digital compact camera from the drawer it retired to...
The UK is drafting a law to jail tech execs for 5 YEARS if they refuse to build scanners that scan EVERY photo, video & message on your phone. Refuse the backdoor = go to prison. All while screaming "think of the children."

This is what the UK spyware proposal means. There must be government spyware on every mobile device. It shall watch everything that happens, including always watching the screen, looking for things the government disapproves of. When anything is flagged by the software as something the government doesn't like, the software must block it from being sent or displayed (in realtime). The user of the device must not be able to shut this watching and blocking off. The only way to shut it off would be to ask the government or its proxies to do so for you, at their discretion. Therefore the whole device must be locked down. Administrator rights and the decision of what software or operating system to run or not to run must be taken from the owner/user and handed to the government and its proxies. Apple and Google are themselves working hard to lock down the devices they are involved in to shut out competition and establish a duopoly. The UK government says it is "working closely" with Apple and Google and currently they synchronise and coordinate their communication on this subject. The UK government is now proposing to mandate what would otherwise be illegal anti-competitive practices. @GrapheneOS on the Apple and Google duopoly: x.com/GrapheneOS/status/2053… Statement from @signalapp x.com/signalapp/status/20640… @ReclaimTheNetHQ on the state spyware: reclaimthenet.org/starmer-ca… The government announcement: gov.uk/government/news/new-p…

Our statement on the UK government’s demand that all content on all devices sold or used in the country be scanned, on the presumption of nudity, using a dystopian combination of age verification and content scanning. This proposal will not safeguard children. It endangers us all. signal.org/blog/pdfs/2026-06…

💔 THIS IS HEARTBREAKING. COULD DARTMOOR TRULY LOSE ITS PONIES? 🐴📉 A devastating warning has been issued by campaigners who fear that up to NINETY PERCENT of Dartmoor’s iconic semi-wild hill ponies could completely disappear from the moorland. Over 23,000 people have already signed an emergency petition demanding action to protect them. New rules drawn up by Natural England mean that grazing limits across the moors are being slashed. But here is the catch: campaigners say the famous ponies are being lumped into the exact same livestock quotas as commercial cattle and sheep. Because they are competing for the same reduced space, it's feared farmers will be forced to remove the ponies to make way for more financially viable livestock. The Dartmoor Hill Pony Association warns that numbers have already plummeted from 7,000 to just 900 in the last 25 years. They are already listed as an officially endangered native breed. Campaigners warn that once they are gone from the moor, they are gone forever. Natural England says they want to ensure "optimal numbers" remain and that ponies are vital for restoring the landscape—but officials confirm they must be included in the total livestock count. Dartmoor simply wouldn’t be Dartmoor without the ponies. Do you think it’s fair to treat these historic animals the same as farm livestock? 📸 Ben Ivory / Getty Images

Everyone keeps writing about what a huge loss Anthony Head is to them and how wonderful he was. Perfectly right, of course, but I keep thinking of his daughters and how they've lost both their parents in a few short months...

Spot on Technology no longer makes our lives easier, but harder. And we're being manipulated & controlled through it - where once it served us, now it enslaves us
I genuinely think a lot of millennials are reaching the same conclusion at the same time. We grew up watching technology make life better every year. Cell phones. iPods. Smartphones. An app for everything. It felt like the future was arriving right in front of us, and we couldn’t wait for what came next. Then somewhere along the way, it changed. Everything became a subscription. Social media became algorithms. Every day feels like another once-in-a-lifetime event. The things that were supposed to save us time somehow ended up demanding more of our attention than ever. We were sold convenience. What we got was a world that feels faster, louder, more expensive, and somehow less human. And that’s why so many people I know dream about a completely different life now. Not more technology. Not more optimization. Just a quiet job, a flip phone, a small town, and a place where life feels real again.
