Under the imminent legislation, New Zealand entities with income over $20 million p.a. must submit annual reports of the risk of labour abuse in their supply chains. A public register of the disclosure statements will be established, and a penalty regime implemented.
The New Zealand Government has today announced it is drafting modern slavery legislation. This is a significant milestone for New Zealand, which aligns us with other countries (e.g., Australia and the UK).
NZ’s Deputy PM Carmel Sepuloni announced its commitment to introduce new modern slavery legislation.
Organisations with $20 million or more in annual revenue must report on modern slavery risks in their operations and supply chains.
