A Sound of Thunder. Rapidograph. 8.5 x 11. 1965. An illustration from Ray Bradbury's short story, A Sound of Thunder. I was a big Bradbury fan back in the day and still am. So I was inspired to do a drawing of one of his well known stories.

An illustration from By the Waters of Babylon, a short story by Stephen Vincent Benét. Rapidograph. 8.5 x 11. 1965. It's a post-apocalypse tale about a young man’s exploration of a ruined city of gods and his confrontation with one of inhabitants. The drawing depicts that god.

A Great White Ape of Barsoom, Edgar Rice Burroughs' name for Mars. Pentel and colored pencil. 8.5 x 14. 1964. I read a ton of the Burroughs' books when they were first issued in paperback. I did a few drawings from his work, particularly of the aliens from Barsoom.

The Big Drawing. Odin. Microns & Tombow's Fudenosuke Brush Pen hard tip/soft tip. 12.5 x 10. 2025. Odin's armor is based on a Kirby version on the first page of the Tales of Asgard story in Journey into Mystery 123. This remains one of my favorite version of Odin's daywear.

The lower left corner of the drawing is finished although I still have to erase it. Most of the characters are obvious (to fans, anyway). However the three small ones on the left margin are Heimdall, Hildegarde, and Tyr. I never drew Hildegard or Tyr in the comic.
