Not the only or even the oldest EV at @caryncgov’s Wheels on Academy. The 2011 @Tesla Roadster I’ve parked near at the past two fall National Drive Electric Month events at @NCState’s Carter-Finley stadium, hosted by @NCCleanTech, registered early for today’s car show.

Spotted new EV in the “neighborhood”, less than a mile from the house. Well new to them, given the Nissan dealership plate frame on a @Lexus RZ. Just so happened I followed them into work as I was headed in to get labwork done. Also a @Rivian R1S in a different staff lot.

Was out Saturday to check on a few EV charging sites & stumbled across an @ionnaofficial in a Refuel’s parking lot off US-70 West, at 8710 Glenwood Ave. Did a u-turn to check it out. Three @alpitronic HYC400s, 4 CCS & 2 NACS. refuelmarket.com/stores/refu…

Just noticed that @ionnaofficial is going to have to swap cables on each of the two end HYC400s. The two closest parking spaces are labeled CCS & the two far ones are labeled NACS, but look at the handles. I assume cable swaps would be easier than repainting @brandenflasch?

Swung by Walmart Supercenter 5118, 10500 Glenwood Ave, on Saturday. Its EV charging site is waiting on its transformer. First time visiting one of their locations with the fences down, the parking spaces are wide. Four @alpitronic HYC400s with 4 CCS & 4 NACS cables.

The “Explore an EV” row at today’s show included two @caryncgov Model 3s that staff can checkout, and two PD Model 3s that had already snuck away when I took the pic, but the FD’s electric fire truck stayed the bulk of the time. @Honda Prologue beside me & then a Fisker Ocean.

I preregistered for this one. Hopefully weather cooperates, forecast shows 40% chance of rain. Hopefully a certain red Model X owner can attend, schedules permitting, & bring their Cybertruck. Two years ago the Model S surprised the crowd (see vid) with its “Other” Category win.

Figured the infield would be cooler than parking on the track. Great day for an outdoor event. A few still asked, “Is it a Plaid?” All surprised it was a 2012. Classic owners seem to like original Model S design compared to the current. Leather seats, normal air vents, chrome..

Given its rarity and backstory the Cameo White 1977 Pontiac LeMans Can Am drew a lot of foot traffic. It had a planned production run of potentially 5K, but the mold for its ducktail rear spoiler broke, so less than 1400 were built.

Finally crossed the Morehead City, NC @TeslaCharging location off my ⚡️ list. Last time I was down this way was December 1, 2024, when the fences were still up. Transformer was on site, but had not been powered on yet.

Not sure I’ll do another rainy day show. Only 17 vehicles showed up, several being club members’. Local businesses who sponsored each trophy chose the vehicles awarded, so club vehicles were eligible. Parked in front of the JoCo Courthouse, in a spot closest to food truck row.

After almost missing out on a dash plaque last Saturday I preregistered for next Saturday’s car show at @UniversalChevy in Wendell hosted by the Eastern Carolina Corvette Club. Won the “Other”category at their 2024 Spring show. It’d be nice to see a few other EVs there.

Weather permitting I’ll be attending one of the closest car shows for ‘26, at the 40th Annual Ham & Yam Festival in the adjacent town. As of yesterday evening the car club overseeing the car show is still planning to see it through. It’d be nice to see another EV there this year.
