On This Day, 2020: Six years ago today, a Falcon 9 launched from Pad 40 at Cape Canaveral carrying 58 Starlink satellites and three Planet Labs Earth-imaging satellites, the first Starlink rideshare mission and a new record at the time for the fastest turnaround between launches from the same pad. The pre-dawn liftoff created a twilight spectacle.

Ten years ago today a Delta IV Heavy lifted off from Cape Canaveral carrying NROL-37. One of the most visually spectacular rockets ever to fly from the Space Coast. The program ended in April 2024. Its replacement, Vulcan Centaur, has had a rocky start but is now certified and has a big Amazon Kuiper launch coming this September. We were there. wereportspace.com/blog/ten-y…

The Zvezda service module transfer tunnel, known as PrK, has suffered from cracks and leaks for some time, and has been mitigated by Roscosmos as much as possible to date. The cracks have always been a concern that NASA watches very closely. NASA and Roscosmos have been working to determine the root cause of the cracks, and Roscosmos manages the issue through operational mitigation measures and periodic partial-repair efforts.

Following new leaks, Roscosmos has elected to proceed with a more extensive repair operation on Friday, June 5. Out of an abundance of caution, NASA has directed all four of the agency's SpaceX Crew-12 members and NASA astronaut Chris Williams to assume an elevated safety posture in the Dragon spacecraft while the repair is underway.

We continue to work with our Russian counterparts, along with the rest of the international community that supports the space station, to arrive at a more permanent resolution.

SpaceX Starlink 10-24 launch at 5:33am Tuesday from the Space Coast. Downrange space jellyfish: ☑️ Booster re-entry burn: ☑️ Light column (above the pad): ☑️ Much of the east coast would have had an amazing view of the jelly, well-predicted by @spacejellyalert.

Artemis II liftoff: cell phone video, kept running for the sound, which is…wow, just, wow. Sorry, I didn’t pan up; this was a last minute decision and I propped it on a still camera. I’m actually surprised the vibrations didn’t knock it to the ground.
