Really looks like an atomic bomb. Kinda chilling.
Insane footage filmed from a nearby restaurant shows tonight’s explosion of Blue Origin’s New Glenn at Cape Canaveral Launch Complex 36 (LC-36).

Without the wind, Saturday wouldn't be bad at all. But it's going to be gusty around midday, and that could make it feel like the FORTIES in spots, especially the East End 🥶

That means recreational boating is a no-go tomorrow. Small Craft Advisory for the LI Sound, Ocean west of Smith Point, GSB and Shinnecock. Gale Warning for Ocean east of Smith Point, Peconic & Gardiners Bay out to Block Island sound.

Big ol' Omega block has set up across the country, which will lead to stormier/cooler weather for the West Coast and New England in the coming days.

This will lead to an odd day on Saturday for the Northeast. A quick wave of low pressure will dive down from Canada Friday night and bring New England atrocious weather for late May. Long Island is mostly spared but will still be cool and blustery!

1-2" of rain likely Islandwide over the weekend. Some models have been suggesting more robust numbers in the 2-3" range. Either way, we need this rain and the lawns are going to love it. Shame it had to come on a holiday weekend!

WEEKEND WASH 🌧️ Outside of some dry hours Saturday morning (later out east) you will need to move your plans indoors or at least under a tent the next two days. Memorial Day itself better. @Newsday

Look away if you wanted decent weather for #MDW 🫣 After a dry Friday with seasonable temps and a little sun, rain moves in Saturday morning (more dry hours further east) and temps are stuck in the FIFTIES 🤢 A soaker by night into Sunday morning, minor improvements after that.

What a difference a day makes. We probably won't see 90 again until the second half of June!

Any fog that was out there looks like it quickly lifted big-time. Sensing may have also just been overblown.
Lot of fog hanging out just off shore. Primarily west component of wind keeping it there. Cold ocean this time of year!

Long Island upgraded to a level 2/5 'slight' risk for severe storms later today. Keep an eye to the sky towards this evening.

Long Island omitted from the Heat Advisory today but not the Air Quality Alert this time. Take it easy today, and treat it the same as if it were July!

Not the best air for breathing today once you get off the Island, and I'm sure the extra cars on the road aren't making things better. @Newsday

Good chance we see some 30-35° temperature differences across LI, especially tomorrow and Wednesday! @Newsday

Officially historic stuff. Simply incredible.
❄️☃️Last February's Blizzard tied the state record for snow depth in Rhode Island of 42 inches, originally set in the Blizzard of '78. A State Climate Extremes Committee recently voted to accept this tied value. Read the full report at: ncei.noaa.gov/monitoring-con…
