ALT New NFL Kickoff Rules Entering the 2024 season, the NFL will introduce new kickoff rules. Here’s how they’ll work. • A touchback will be granted at a) the 40-yard line if the ball doesn’t pass the 20-yard line, b) the 30-yard line if the ball is kicked into the end zone, c) the 20-yard line if the ball first lands in the field of play before rolling into the end zone. • The kicker is no longer permitted to pass the yard line. • Before the play, the kick/receive team is required to issue indication.
