False implied associations with reputable third parties: Overline Network has engaged in a series of misleading practices, pretending to have ties with reputable organizations and individuals to gain trust to obtain more funds from the community.
False Association with Forbes: Overline Network created a fraudulent website,
staging.forbeswallet.com, which redirects users to
overline.network even today. This misleading domain gives the false impression of an official collaboration with Forbes. Upon reaching out to Forbes recently, it was confirmed that "This site is not part of the official Forbes account," exposing yet another deceitful tactic from the overline network scam
#overlinenetwork #scam. They even have an X handle named
@forbeswallet, with "Data on the Overline multichain (
explorer.overline.network) for transactions, NFTs, and messages." in the bio.... which can be read to imply that the wallets Overline was promising to provide to the community were somehow connected to
@Forbes @ForbesWeb3.
Unfulfilled Promises with Epic Games: The company claimed it would launch its project via Epic Games
@EpicGames, a renowned video game and software developer. However, this launch never materialized, and no official partnership was ever confirmed by Epic Games - nothing to wishlist either. This empty promise has now been deleted from their X account, but a screenshot is attached.
Fake Amazon Integration: Overline Network included a button on their website for a short time allowing users to "sign in using Amazon," and get on a "Waitlist" implying a partnership with
@amazon for launching their supposed NFT marketplace per some X space calls. This feature and the promised marketplace never came to fruition, and the button was quietly removed, further illustrating their pattern of false promises and deceptive claims. All mention of this has now been deleted from their socials.
Misleading Use of Elon Musk’s Identity: The company retweeted tweets by Elon Musk
@elonmusk and placed his name and profile on their official leaderboard within the overline network website. This misleading use of Elon Musk's identity led people to believe that he was either using or endorsing their platform, or else implying some sort of link to Elon in aiding their unstoppable communication capability through the oRouter, adding yet another false sense of legitimacy to their fraudulent activities. Yep - all retweets have since been deleted from their socials.
These actions by Overline Network demonstrate a clear intent to deceive and manipulate potential investors by falsely associating themselves with high-profile, reputable entities and then wiping out all mention of these from their X social account after their sales concluded and they ghosted the community for months. Such deceptive practices are a hallmark of scams, aiming to build unwarranted trust and credibility to attract investments. These deceptive practices likely violate several federal and state laws related to fraud, false advertising, and consumer protection, which may result in criminal charges.
The
@SECGov recently made a post on how to recognize a potential crypto scam. Here were some of the items on their list that overline fulfils:
- Fraudsters Impersonate or Exploit Trusted Sources - see above.
- Fraudsters Exploit the Hype Around Emerging Technologies Such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) - the oRouter, unstoppable wireless communication with a crypto miner built in, new technology non-reliant on internet, disaster proof
- Fraudsters Demand Additional Costs That They Falsely Claim Will Allow You to Withdraw From Your Account, or to Recover Losses - oRouter owners were to be first to mint oCash (only disclosed AFTER they launched 'mainnet', which was never actually a crypto token launch and conditions were never previously disclosed. Instead of allowing any withdrawal or presenting a contract address, they forced a 'staking' of 'balances airdrop' for months without any withdrawal in sight), oLands, Keys with blue chip NFT raffles, & buying ocash would result in a 1:1 airdrop of whatever your purchased, etc. etc.
