Okay so maybe going to deep with this, but what is with this depiction of immortality as like bad for the immortal because you have to see loved ones die?
It never felt like anything other than a privilege to be with a loved one in their last days.

Surely there is room for something like that in literature at least. Losing a loved one is awful, but being there with them is so so valuable I think.
