Many of us pass Ọba Akran Avenue without knowing who Akran was — an Ogu king, a minister, a first-class traditional ruler who helped build the very western region we call ‘Yorubaland’ today.
While the Yoruba are a dominant force in the southwest of Nigeria, the area is also the cultural homeland of the Ogu people, a distinct ethno-linguistic group with its own rich history, language, and traditions.
We need to ask ourselves, 'if southeastern Benin Republic... are not exclusively labelled Fonland or Oguland despite Benin's predominant Fon/Ogu populations, how then can southwest Nigeria be Yorubaland?'

Thank you very much indeed for the invitation. I had a great time experiencing Zurich. And I do really appreciate the constructive engagements and feedback that I received from your vibrant scholarly community! Thank you again!
Is there anyone who has photos of the eminent #Yoruba writer & educator JOSEPH FỌLÁHÀN “J.F.” ỌDÚNJỌ?
There are photos of his contemporaries like DANIEL ỌLỌ́RUNFẸ́MI “D.O.” FÁGÚNWÀ and ISAAC BABALỌLÁ “I.B.” THOMAS on the internet, but I can’t find any of #Odunjo's!
With all these useless #podcast revelations (bordering on diabolism) by different #Nigerian#standup comedians recently, it seems to me that their industry has reached its peak and now self-destructing, much to the gain of the #comedy skit-makers.
So, I’m at the 2023 Conference of the Swiss Association for the Studies of Science and Technology #STSch2023.
Theme: “Science, Expertise and Other Modes of Knowledge: Trends, Patterns and Prospects” in Basel. Aug 31 & Sept. 1, 2023.
Opening Address by STSch Executives.
So, until the next #STS Conference in 2025. But in the meantime, a few images of public arts from @UniBasel’s #Kollegienhaus where this year’s Conference was held.
