Or, for around the same price, we could build homes using @WikiHouse blocks made from wood grown in Scotland, which emits a fraction of the carbon.
In fact, when count the stored carbon in the wood, they’re carbon negative. Just saying.

New @WikiHouse designs library includes this garden studio pattern, which you can build for yourself for around £18k-20k, and (in most cases) without needing planning or building regs approval.
Less hassle than building an extension. -Much- less hassle than moving house.
