Rewarding individuals chosen to represent the people through monetary incentives and gifts inevitably raises questions about integrity, impartiality, and the rationality of the system itself. In any event, people would have reached their desired outcome; this βdonkey and carrotβ approach is poorly timed and reflects a troubling main character syndrome. Individualism, after all, is often a compensatory behaviour.
Politics is not a contest of who beats the loudest drum. It is an arena of strategy, planning, and implementation. When a true strategist speaks, the only sound that should echo is: βCheckmate.β
