I met with workers and local leaders at Mesabi Metallics in Nashwauk — in a few months, it will become the first taconite mine to open in Minnesota in nearly 50 years. This is good news for the Iron Range, creating good-paying union jobs and new opportunities for working families. Thanks to the Operating Engineers, Steelworkers, LIUNA, Ironworkers, Iron Range Building Trades, Tribal leaders, and mayors including Pete Hyduke of Hibbing and Greg Heybloom of Nashwauk & Ida Rukavina (my former staffer) of the IRRRB.

Alex Pretti, the man killed by federal agents today in Minneapolis. appears to have been a registered nurse, an athlete, a son and a brother, with ties to Colorado and Wisconsin. Here is a photo he used for several accounts.
