The magic is most powerful when used on a conductor, such as metal and water, and least powerful when it is used on an insulator, such as wood. 6/7

This effect is not permanent however, and their eyes go back to normal after a few minutes of their last shadow spell. Finally, shadow magic is mostly stronger in darkness and weaker in places with more light, so casters generally like operating at night or in shaded places.
