So proud of all the contestants of the NZYF grand final last night in Invercargill! They were all awesome. A special spot in the heart for young Hugh Jackson having employed him as a young grad @DairyNZ. He’s come so far! nzherald.co.nz/nz/waikato-ba…

Proud to support this incredible organisation on the board with my other amazing volunteers. Countless hours goes into this by the volunteer event committee, tireless supporters, sponsors and an incredible small team. Incredible organisation and talent.

How good is that! For agriculture, science, and looking for solutions. Proud to call this lady a friend. The work is not done but she’s an inspiration to many of us.
Congratulations Dame Alison Stewart #DNZM #FARarable

The Waimea Dam project is now complete, and fully operational. The immediate cost is significant, however the long term benefits will outweigh the cost by some exponential margin. We need more water storage and more support for community projects. Not less nzherald.co.nz/the-country/n…

How good is Sydney’s credit card tap on and off service for transport! I’ve got 4 different cards in NZ (Queenstown, Chch, Wellington and Auckland) - can’t wait for them to be none with a max daily limit.

InfrastructureNZ Building Nations. James Shaw - how we can decarbonise and build resilience through private capital. IMHO him leaving politics is the biggest loss for the Greens & environment bipartisanship in decades. Perhaps he’ll be more successful supporting business directly

Who writes this? We are in a cost of living crisis &TVNZ focus on term deposits being ‘slashed’ rather than lending rates being ‘reduced’. The ‘reduced rates’ for 3,4,5 year loans are more than the ‘slashed’ rate quoted? This is good news - have they forgotten what that is?

Not since Marina Erakovic has NZ had a tennis athlete do so well. Sun goes one better at Wimbledon reaching the quarter finals. Well done to her and her family who have sacrificed so much to come so far. I think she may now be the local crowd favourite.

Win big and go out well. PNG have some strengths and a few NZ coaching tips. I’m disappointed to say the least that we bow out so soon, but I’m loyal. Let’s look at this closely and rebuild for the future. Maybe a warm up game of two before the next tournament would help?

Growing food offers opportunity. Young people can get ahead with support from whanau. I see it with pākehā and Māori alike in farming. Such an opportunity for changing careers or building your first one. This award is awesome at highlighting incredible young talent!
An emotional Ben Purua.29, farm manager at Waimakariri Lands wins 2024 @ahuwhenuatrophy young Maori Farmer. Says it’s honour representing iwi on this journey. Says it took an iwi to help him change his life. “I know I wasn’t the best growing but I hope I make everyone proud now.”

Thanks @ShayneCurrieNZH for calling this out in mainstream - not the first time ‘the hound’ has belittled women in agriculture and their importance to the sector. It’s disgraceful in this day that advertisers are still supporting this rubbish.

nzherald.co.nz/business/medi… Shayne's column is paywalled, but it's delicious to read how Rural News stepped into a massive cowpat with its pathetic anonymous column having a misogynist go at Shepherdess and Woman's Day.
