1/3 The question that we need to be asking now is this: What is Gabapentin NOT being prescribed for? Currently, it's being prescribed for:
-Anxiety
-Depression
-Nerve pain
-Fibromyalgia
-Post-Surgery Pain Management
-Fibromyalgia

How can we encourage the withdrawal community and those offering deprescribing services to embrace patients over profits? We need more Adele Framers in the withdrawal community and fewer people who prioritize making huge profits off desperate individuals.

Many before me have succinctly discussed the waves and windows of psychiatric drug withdrawal. My brief contribution to the topic shares my thoughts on waves/windows and how Gabapentin/Lyrica withdrawal also seems to follow similar patterns of recovery.

People should not have to spend thousands of dollars for psychiatric drug withdrawal coaching and support. People should always be valued over profits. I truly hope that those in the deprescribing community will continue to stand with the most vulnerable. #psychiatricdrugs

1/4 - On the Need for Skeptical Psychiatry:
Our current understanding of the brain and mental health is limited. Psychiatry, as a field, should therefore be cautious in claiming that we have fully effective treatments for mental illness.
4/4 - This skepticism isn't a rejection of psychiatry, but a call for ongoing critical evaluation and openness to new evidence, ensuring that treatments truly serve the best interests of patients.
1/4 - 🚨 Public Service Announcement: Gabapentin is being prescribed now more than ever for people post-surgery. Unfortunately, doctors are not informing patients that their brain and body can become dependent on this medication within 2-4 weeks.
3/4 - Gabapentin must be tapered off slowly and hyperbolically. Most physicians won't tell you that you could become dependent on this drug in less than a month after your procedure.
4/4 - I’m tired of seeing lives destroyed due to the broken U.S. medical system and the lack of education surrounding the dangers of Gabapentinoid drugs.
