Getting a publisher to take a chance on a working class writer is very difficult. Getting a literary agent almost impossible
💬 "The Sutton Trust found only 10% of writers are from working-class backgrounds." Getting to the top of the creative industries is a dream for many talented young people in our country. But access to these careers is far from equal ⬇️ bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c80m…

A few weeks ago I mentioned here I had examined a Phd Thesis on Culture Wars on this site. I said how impressed I had been the candidate had used hateful tweets to make poetry - here it is. I'm proud to say there is another angry creative & clever working class woman & academic amongst our ranks. Dr Kyla Bavin eprints.staffs.ac.uk/9592/1/…

Very good thread here. How do we get our stories through now?
Sorry for mithering with another article about Early Doors, but there seem to be quite a lot of them. Thanks to the person from ‘British Comedy Classics’ that wrote this (sorry, no name). Anyway, I like this one, it’s worth a read, whether you’re an Early Doors fan or not…
