How can we make traditional fish processing cleaner, safer, and more sustainable?
For small fish like dagaa, blanching is an essential step before drying improving quality and market value. However, in coastal Kenya and Tanzania, it is traditionally done using wood fires, this not only drives up costs and contributes to deforestation and expose mainly women processors to harmful smoke.
Simply Solar’s PVsteamCube offers a better way. It uses solar energy to produce steam for blanching, even at night. It improves energy efficiency through heat recovery, eliminates firewood use, reduces emissions, and enhances both product quality and worker safety.
