In 2025, only 1 in 3 children (32.7%) said they enjoy reading, the lowest in 20 years. Reading enjoyment has dropped 36% since 2005, with boys aged 11–16 most affected. If we don’t ACT now, an entire generation may grow up disconnected from books, stories, and the joy of reading.
